Before I Go — About Page
Before I Go is a uniquely Australian service, created to help families face life's hardest moments with clarity instead of confusion. It's owned and operated by Barrantyne Pty Ltd, an established Australian company — so the tool your family may one day rely on is backed by a business, not just a website.
The belief behind it is simple: when someone we love is gone, or when life changes suddenly, families don't struggle because there wasn't enough love. They struggle because no one knew where things were.
Before I Go exists to close that gap.
Why I Built Before I Go
A close friend of mine died suddenly. He was a highly skilled professional and everyone assumed he had things in order. However, he had left no will and no record of where anything was. When he was gone, his family was left searching: for documents, for financial information, for passwords and for answers only he could have given. Their grief was hard enough. The confusion made it worse.
I've spent much of my life sitting with people through hard passages of their lives. I co-founded ManKind Project Australia and led it for 25 years and was a Relationship Therapist for many of those years — a quarter of a century walking alongside people through grief, change and loss. In all that time I kept seeing the same thing: it's rarely that the big decisions overwhelm a grieving family. It's the small, unanswered ones that created confusion and stress.
So I built Before I Go — the tool I wish my friend had had. I've built it personally, I researched it very carefully, and I stay close to every part of it, with one question always in mind: will this make things easier for the people left behind?

What Before I Go is — and isn't
A Will tells people what you wanted to happen. Before I Go tells them what they need to know — where things are, who to call, what exists and what you'd want. One is a legal document, the other is the map that helps your family actually find their way. You need both.
Before I Go isn't about making your life public and it isn't about preparing for death. It's a calm, private place to gather what matters, so the people you love are never left searching at the very moment life changes.
A Final Thought
Most of us spend more time planning a holiday than preparing what our families will actually need. I
t's not that we don't care — it's that it feels too big and too far away and so it waits.
It doesn't have to be big. It can start with one small step, taken at your own pace. It will be one of the kindest things you ever do for the people you love.
So that is who we are, and we are here to ensure you and your family face those hard times in a good way.
